When buying a ticket to this unique concept, you can choose on which location you want to start. After the first concert at 7pm, you will walk clockwise to the next concert that starts one hour later, and so on. At 11pm, we will close the night together at Trix with a concert by Condor Gruppe.
Chantal Acda (trio)
Chantal Acda (b. 1978) has worked under the Sleepingdog moniker since 2006, making three affectionately received albums; Naked In A Clean Bed (2006), Polar Life (2008) and, most recently, With Our Heads in the Clouds and Our Hearts in the Fields, in which she worked closely with Adam Wiltzie (Stars of the Lid, A Winged Victory For The Sullen). They toured the UK and Benelux with Low. At the same time, she was a constant on-stage presence with Isbells. After all this, it was time for her first real solo record. Playing in various formations had made her conscious of the patterns that we all, as humans, share in. So she sought out kindred spirits with whom she might record an album filled with freedom and intensity, and who were conscious of the patterns we so often fall back on. Nils Frahm was the first of these to cross her path. The German pianist reaches in and touches with his intense records and adventurous performances. Acda also experienced a direct bond with Peter Broderick. We know this multi-instrumentalist from his solo work and from his work with, among others,Efterklang. Cellist extraordinaire Gyda Valtysdottir had previously worked with Chantal as a member of the Sleepingdog live band. She had previously played in Icelandic group múm. Shahzad Ismaily stumbled into this picture by chance, but when Chantal and he found themselves in the same room they formed an instant rapport. The circle completed, Acda had found the 4 worlds that would enable her to record an album wherein she might go in search of those boundaries and patterns. In full freedom. Power revealed through vulnerability. Nils Frahm, who played all over the record, also took on the role of producer. What began as a journey ended as a wonderful record - one wherein the five musicians were able to find their place and, together, and with great warmth, tell their nine-song story. Na Good News uit 2017 keerde School is Cool terug met hun toepasselijk getitelde vierde album: Things That Don't Go Right. De meeste dingen gaan nu eenmaal mis, zeker in 2020. De avontuurlijke plaat is geïnspireerd door nostalgische classic rock, met veel tweestemmige gitaarlijnen, grote synthriffs en luide refreinen. De popliefde van de band blijft wel centraal staan. Meer en meer, zelfs.
Voor De Fakkel Live kruipen frontman Johannes Genard en violist Michaël Lamiroy met z'n tweëen op het podium voor wat beslist een unieke School is Cool-set wordt.

Stef Kamil Carlens vond zichzelf al meermaals met succes opnieuw uit. De dEUS- en Zita Swoonoprichter verbaasde na zijn succesvul rentree als soloartiest iedereen met zijn deelname aan het tv-programma 'Liefde Voor Muziek'. Niet veel later kwam er een nieuw album, Making Sense Of Infinity, dat door pers en publiek positief onthaald werd.
Ook in zijn shows houdt Stef Kamil het graag spannend. Met aan zijn voeten heel wat voor de hand en minder voor de hand liggende instrumenten schept hij een eigen wereld van de songs uit zijn inmiddels impressionante repertoire. Omdat hij soms tot met zeven instrumenten tegelijkertijd in de weer is, lijkt zijn spel wel een soort choreografie, waarin zijn minutieus getimede bewegingen een krachtige maar verfijnde eenheid van groove en melodie vormen.
Condor Gruppe ^be^

Condor Gruppe, dat is duistere gitaarrock met een hoek af uit Antwerpen. In het psychedelische rockcollectief spelen leden van Creature With The Atom Brain, Flying Horseman en White Circle Crime Club. Sinds 2012 maakt de steeds groeiende straffe band filmische, haast mystieke muziek en ze haalt inspiratie uit spaghettiwesterns, surf music en obscure Italiaanse soundtracks uit de jaren '70.
