Imarhan
Since 2016, Imarhan has been putting Assouf (desert blues) on the global map. While many of their peers moved abroad, this band stayed true to Tamanrasset. In their own Aboogi Studio, the first of its kind in the region, they remain at the heart of their local culture and the younger generation they represent.
In 2026, the group returns with their fourth album: ESSAM ("Lightning"). It’s a fresh, open record that hums with the energy of their hometown. No polished high-end studios for Imarhan; instead, they created a creative hub where local youth drop by for a game of dominoes or a smoke while the band experiments. For the first time, they’ve introduced modular synthesizers and electronic textures, giving their signature guitar sound an addictive, modern upgrade. Imarhan doesn't feel the need to explain or prove anything; they simply let you hear what their world sounds like today. A raw, ecstatic live show where the line between analog tradition and modern electronics effortlessly fades away.
