Nordmann ^be^

Dat hun combinatie van de vrijheid van impro-jazz met de kracht van rock hen een tweede plaats op Humo’s Rock Rally 2014 zou opleveren, had niemand verwacht. Het gaf het viertal achter Nordmann alle reden om door te gaan. Op debuut Alarm (2015) wisten ze de kracht van hun performances op plaat te capteren terwijl The Boiling Ground hen een tour van meer dan 50 optredens opleverde in België, Nederland, Duitsland en Tsjechië. Ze vallen goed bij de pers; passages op Gent Jazz en Jazz Middelheim werden gelauwerd en hun optreden op Pukkelpop 2017 werd door De Standaard zelfs gebombardeerd tot tweede beste concert van het festival. Daarnaast bewijst hun status als ‘best verkopende act van V2 België’ dan weer dat het publiek mee is en ook tv-makers grabbelen graag in hun discografie (Canvas, Team Scheire).

Nu is het tijd voor een nieuw hoofdstuk, een nieuwe evolutie van Nordmann in de vorm van In Velvet, een gelaagd studioalbum dat zich als een warm deken om de luisteraar slaat en waarop rock ingeruild wordt voor elektronica. Producer Jasper Maekelberg – die hun debuut ook al voor zijn rekening nam - werd opgeroepen en zorgde voor structuur en overzicht binnen het vernieuwd muzikaal kader. In deze nieuwe vorm is Nordmann meer dan ooit klaar om (inter)nationaal potten te breken.

Annelies Van Dinter started playing drums as a teenager in punk bands and never really lost that punk spirit. Growing up listening to Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley and Roadiohead she started writing songs and felt at a young age the road was her true home. And she’s been around. Touring Europe and USA with different bands and as Echo Beatty. At first very DIY, copying CD’s to sell her inventive home-recordings at small shows. With a music taste and influences that range from desert blues to experimental niche, alternative classics like Radiohead and classic story tellers like Nick Cave, Van Dinter always puts experiment and a dynamic synergy with the musicians she works with at a center. With true grit, she’s weathered many storms, rode many waves and keeps on riding for more exciting musical plains.
