Open Mic in aid of De Warmste Week
Where trauma is given a place, but talent takes center stage
Everyone deserves a safe home, a place where you can be yourself, where you feel seen and heard, and where you have the space to discover who you are. But not everyone grows up in such an environment. Child abuse and growing up in an unsafe home can leave deep scars. Yet, there is so much more to a person than what they have been through.
BIRTHE is a Belgian soul-pop artist who breaks the taboo surrounding child abuse with her debut album Trial & Error and her single Mama. Drawing from her own experiences, she aims to be a voice for survivors and show that your past does not define who you are or who you can become. Guided by that message, she is partnering with Trix to host an OPEN MIC in support of De Warmste Week, giving people who grew up in unsafe homes the chance to put their talent and creativity in the spotlight.
The evening kicks off with a short musical set by BIRTHE. Afterward, fellow survivors will take the stage, filling the night with music, poetry, theater, and art. During the final half-hour, the mic will be open to anyone who wants to perform or share something of their own.
Entry is by voluntary donation at the door. All proceeds from the benefit event will be donated directly to De Warmste Week.

BIRTHE
Belgian-based, independent artist BIRTHE combines Soul with a touch of Pop, Funk and Jazz. With a background in classical music and a passion for storytelling, she incorporates strings and wind instruments into her songs and writes about themes as personal growth and self-development.
Together with producer OSKI, she creates a warm, authentic sound. Musically, she goes back to the essence of the '50s, '60s, and ’70s: live-played instruments and minimal electronic sounds. BIRTHE's debut album Trial & Error is OUT NOW and entered the Ultratop album charts at #2 in its first week of release!
