Show Me The Body
With their fourth album 'Alone Together', New York band Show Me The Body deliver their most powerful sound yet. They made the record in their own Queens studio during a period when frontman Julian Cashwan Pratt had just become a father, while the band simultaneously faced the loss of a close friend. That mix of new life, grief, and reality forms the red thread running through the album. The album revolves around praxis, not just talking about what you believe in, but actually putting it into action and showing up for one another. To get that message across as clearly as possible, they teamed up with producers Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume III, who challenged the band to strip away all the fluff and focus purely on their signature sound. The result is a record packed with heavy basslines, distorted banjo, and driving drums. And thanks to a collaboration with Gio Escobar (Standing on the Corner), you'll also catch surprising, dark New York jazz horns woven throughout.
'Alone Together' alternates hard-hitting hardcore with more muted, vulnerable moments. It's a genuine album about love, loss, and standing strong together, summed up by the line that anchors the entire record: "radical love compels me to fight".
