SPOOR SERIES #5: Caroline De Meyer + Iris Van Geen

Welcome to the SPOOR series, a monthly meetup in our screen printing studio SPOOR! Once a month, one of our SPOOR residents curates an evening filled with creative exchange, inspiration, and experimentation around all things 2D media, print, and visual arts.

On September 23, resident Caroline De Meyer is shaking up the usual format: instead of a traditional Drink & Draw, we are diving into an interactive, musical board game! Caroline will be taking care of the visual aspect of the evening and designed a unique screen-printed version of a classic board game. Her featured guest is performer and producer Iris Van Geen (Wuivend Benenkind).

Iris creates conceptual, auditory fantasy landscapes driven by a strong DIY ethos: from circuit bending to her self-made frog synthesizer. During this evening, dice rolls and the board game will direct a live musical session. The central focal point? A TASCAM Porta One 4-track cassette recorder with a tape loop stretching across the table. Together with the audience, we will record a live soundtrack throughout the game using microphones, percussion, foley, samples, and effects. Everyone plays along!

Caroline De Meyer

Caroline worked at Gezeever for two years on various projects within the music industry. For instance, she designed merchandise for B O I and presented her solo exhibition JUS DE PÊCHE. During her residency, she aims to experiment further and expand her network while continuing her work on merchandise for B O I and establishing new collaborations.

Iris Van Geen

Wuivend Benenkind aka Iris Van Geen is a performer and producer. She typically creates conceptual auditory fantasy landscapes, usually featuring Wuivend Benenkind as the main character. She loves working with DIY principles, circuit bending, and custom-soldered circuits, such as her self-built frog synth on a microchip.
