Unknown Mortal Orchestra - the band of Ruban Nielson - used to be a small indie band: 5 years ago they played for a handful of people in our bar. But then they made another record, one that had ‘So Good At Being In Trouble’ on it. Back then, they still sounded like they needed some dusting off. But the dust that Multi-Love (2015) made, still hasn’t really settled. The funky, soulful vintage discopop - or psychedelic r&b as they like to put it - took the whole world by surprise. The title track and Can’t Keep Checking My Phone became classics, and UMO’s fans could barely fit in the larger venues in the whole world. So why not make another album for all those fans, they said. Enter: Sex and Food.
