Poppel is a Belgian indie band that drifts between dreamy melodies, hazy guitars and a distinct DIY spirit. After a period of quiet, the band is gearing up to return to the stage with a sound that still balances warmth, grit and effortless charm.

The group is built on four equal pillars: Fik Dries (vocals & bass), Dries Hermans (guitar), Bram Van Gorp (guitar) and Lars Baeyens (drums). Hermans also runs the idiosyncratic label Gazer Tapes, perfectly aligned with the band’s lo-fi ethos. Fik, formerly of Believo!, brings his laid-back vocal tone and natural melodic instinct. Bram adds a second guitar voice essential to the band’s identity, delivering parts that shape both texture and momentum. Lars and Fik form the rhythmic backbone — tight when needed, loose and breathing when the songs call for it.

Though the band hasn’t released new material recently, Poppel remains true to its own universe: fuzzy guitars, soft melancholy and a slacker sensibility that feels both light-hearted and sincere.
