William Tyler + Bill Mackay
Ryley Walker / Steve Gunn / Marisa Anderson
William Tyler
Nashville-born guitarist William Tyler was formerly a member of Lambchop and has collaborated with artists such as Bonnie “Prince” Billy. In 2010, he released his phenomenal solo debut 'Behold The Spirit' (8.6 on Pitchfork), followed by 'Impossible Truth' (2013) and 'Modern Country' (2016), each a gem of instrumental alt-country and folk. In 2019, he released 'Goes West', which M.C. Taylor hailed as his best work to date. He later followed up with 'Lost Futures' (2021, with Marisa Anderson) and the acclaimed and recent 'Time Indefinite' (2025), praised by The Guardian and Pitchfork as a career highlight.
Bill MacKay
Chicago-based guitarist, composer, and visual artist Bill MacKay weaves folk, rock, jazz, and avant-garde into a sound that is entirely his own. He previously released albums such as 'Esker' (2017) and 'Fountain Fire' (2019), and has collaborated with the likes of Ryley Walker, Nathan Bowles, Steve Gunn, and Bonnie “Prince” Billy. In 2024, he returned with 'Locust Land' (Drag City), his most versatile and urgent record to date, featuring warm vocals, layered keyboards, and contributions from some of Chicago’s finest musicians. It’s a deeply personal and timely work that finds moments of beauty and calm amid the turbulence.
