Aghogho
With her debut EP “17”, Aghogho introduces a warm and distinctive sound in which soul and afropop blend seamlessly. With her voice and bass guitar, she forms the beating heart of her music: deep grooves carried by a warm voice and a strong, personal presence. Her Nigerian name, meaning “child of God”, reflects the personal and cultural layers that run through her work. As a Belgian artist with Nigerian roots, Aghogho brings her heritage to life through afrobeats, rich harmonies and subtle trumpet lines, woven into a soulful, danceable style that feels both intimate and powerful.
During her residency at Trix, Aghogho further develops her live sound and repertoire. She works on new material and explores how her music translates to the stage. Comparisons to Nilüfer Yanya, Lianne La Havas and Zap Mama are no coincidence: like them, Aghogho moves effortlessly between genres, emotion and rhythm, with a strong focus on expression, timing and musical freedom.
