Dat het Canadese Arts & Crafts (A&C) een boel aan fantastische artiesten in huis heeft, is wel duidelijk. Naast Stephen Malkmus, Feist en Broken Social Scene, brengt ook Stars sinds jaar en dag albums uit op dit label. Met het losvaste collectief Broken Social Scene wisselen ze al eens graag leden uit. En zangeres Amy Millan bracht tevens enkele fantastische solo-albums uit. Heel wat interessante kruisbestuiving, dus, daar bij knuffelband Stars. 

Met bijna 20 jaar op de teller, blijft het uit Toronto afkomstige Stars zich bewijzen als één van de gezelligste indiepopbands van nu. Hun laatste plaat There Is No Love In Fluorescent Light werd opgenomen met producer Peter Katis (The National, Japandroids), en omschreef de band als: "Does no one fall in love under fluorescent light? Pretty sure that's not true, as many an office romance could attest. But as a statement in support of love's delusions, we will stand by it. In love, the lights are different, softer; the air has more oxygen in it; and for a second, all you need is a good chorus to believe this might be the one."

Dit najaar keert Stars terug naar ons land om de 15e verjaardag van Set Yourself On Fire (2004) te vieren. 

Murray A. Lightburn is een Canadese componist, muzikant, performer en muziekproducer. Hij is vooral bekend als leadzanger en voornaamste songwriter van de band The Dears. Sinds 2013 presenteert hij zichzelf ook als een solo-artiest en dit jaar verschijnt met Hear Me Out zijn tweede album. Zelf presenteert hij het nieuwe werk als volgt:

“During a personally turbulent spring of 2016, I responded to an unstoppable flow of creativity. I wrote 15 songs that I knew would be my second solo album. Musically inspired by 60s girl-groups, Motown records and soulful romantic crooners. Vulnerable black men singing sensitive love songs, like Nat King Cole or Marvin Gaye, isn’t something I see a lot of these days. In Canada, there are almost zero. Perhaps I can fill that void.”
