Statement The Darkness:
"It is with great regret that we have been forced to cancel our forthcoming European tour. The dates spanned 23 shows across 10 countries and as time progressed it has been become increasingly clear that due to a mixture of covid problems, venue capacity restrictions, curfews and travel implications, that the tour cannot go ahead.
The opportunity to reschedule such an ambitious tour is also fraught with problems, so we have taken the decision to cancel these dates outright with refunds being available for all shows and VIP events from the point of purchase. We are incredibly saddened not to be able to see you on this occasion and thank you for both your understanding and your continued support. We will endeavour to return as soon as possible, so please keep a look out on our site and socials for news of new shows. We will return…"

The Darkness
Het Britse The Darkness, dat uit hetzelfde muzikale vaatje tapt als bands als AC/DC en Thin Lizzy, heeft na een zeer succesvolle periode jaren stilgelegen. Glorieus was het succes van het debuutalbum uit 2003, Permission To Land, met de hitsingle 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love'. Aanzienlijk minder was het bereik van de opvolger, One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back uit 2005. Na allerlei ruzies achter de schermen viel de band niet veel later dan ook uit elkaar.
Maar de soloprojecten van de bandleden liepen vervolgens ook op niets uit, waardoor The Darkness toch weer bij elkaar kwam om in 2012 het derde album Hot Cakes te releasen. De rock 'n roll-trein stond meteen terug stevig op de rails en intussen zitten we met het in 2019 uitgebrachte en profetisch getitelde Easter Is Cancelled al aan album nummer zes. We still believe in the band called The Darkness!
