Alien Ant Farm
The alternative metal band Alien Ant Farm scored a major hit in 2002 with their cover of Michael Jackson's 'Smooth Criminal'. The American nu-metal band was founded seven years earlier, in 1995, by the fiery singer-songwriter Dryden Mitchell, guitarist Terry Corso, bassist Tye Zamora, and drummer Mike Cosgrove.
As for the origin of the name? "I was daydreaming at my dull desk job with my feet up, and I thought to myself, 'Wouldn't it be cool if the human species were placed on earth and cultivated by alien intelligence?' Maybe the aliens added us to an atmosphere that was suitable for us, and they've been watching us develop and colonize, kind of like what a kid does with an ant farm."
CKY
In 1998, CKY, also known as Camp Kill Yourself, embarked on their musical journey in West Chester, Pennsylvania. With their debut album in 1999, they made a solid mark in the rock world, followed by three more albums and a DVD under Island Records. "Carver City" from 2009 takes us to an imaginary town from the funky 70s and 80s by the beach, where autobiographical and fictional tales converge in a unique musical experience.
