Sound Track: Trix, Antwerpen
For the fourth year in a row, VI.BE is joining forces with the Clubcircuit for Sound Track, much more than a music contest. After weeks of deliberation, a jury of ambassadors and programmers selected 144 musical acts out of 1,297 submissions to give their best live during the preliminary rounds. This edition gives more artists than ever the chance to share their musical stories live. Go discover them in underground youth centers, established clubs, and cultural venues from Limburg to West Flanders!
Aghogho
With her debut EP '17', Aghogho introduces a distinctive and warm sound where soul and afropop blend seamlessly. With her voice and bass guitar, she drives the rhythm of her music, creating deep grooves carried by her warm vocals and strong, personal presence. Her Nigerian name, “child of God,” reflects the personal and cultural depth woven into her work. As a half-Nigerian artist, Aghogho brings her roots to life through afrobeats, rich harmonies, and subtle trumpet lines, crafting a soulful, danceable style that feels both intimate and powerful.
Comparisons to Nilüfer Yanya, Lianne La Havas, and Zap Mama are no coincidence: like them, Aghogho moves effortlessly between genres, emotion, and rhythm, with a strong focus on groove and expressive storytelling.
Crimson Bullet Generation
Crimson Bullet Generation is a five-headed beast from Belgium’s quiet Kempen region, refusing to be boxed into genres. With cello, pounding drums, gritty guitars, grooving basslines, and profound vocals, they craft a distinctive sound that shifts between raw and melancholic. Their debut EP Crimson Market showcased a fresh set of mood swings and teenage angst that explode on stage. Compared to bands like Sonic Youth, Wilco, and The Last Dinner Party, Crimson Bullet Generation remains unapologetically their own.
Ardet
Ardet (Lat. “he/she/it burns”) is the solo project of producer/songwriter Jan Segers. Drawing inspiration from artists like Sufjan Stevens, Beach House, Thom Yorke and SALEM, he blends alt-pop, electronics and singer-songwriter sensibilities into intimate stories told through music, words and sound. Expect lush yet cutting soundscapes with beats, synths, accordion and vocals that drift between dreamlike worlds and familiar memories.
Jesska Fernandes
Born in Portugal, Jesska Fernandes discovered her voice as a kid, always singing and dancing. Now based in Antwerp, she brings her blend of soul, pop and R&B to life. Writing and singing in several languages, she draws inspiration from artists like Rihanna and Jhené Aiko. Her songs are playful, honest and full of energy.
BAELY
Introducing: BAELY, producer and performer, also known as the guitarist of the Waasland-based noise-punk band DAMMIT (winners of De Nieuwe Lichting 2024). With this solo project, BAELY takes a bold new direction. Expect avant-garde sounds reminiscent of SOPHIE and Oneohtrix Point Never, fused with the energy of Skrillex. Unconventional sounds that transcend genres—that's what defines BAELY. Effortlessly blending electro and hyperpop with a hefty dose of punk rock intensity, he creates something truly unique.
