The Undertones
The Undertones began in Derry in 1976, when five friends started making music together inspired by records, magazines, and John Peel’s BBC show. In 1978 they released Teenage Kicks, a song so loved by Peel that he played it twice in a row on air. More hits followed: Here Comes the Summer, Jimmy Jimmy, My Perfect Cousin, each one full of simple punk energy and pop charm. After splitting in the mid-eighties, the band reunited in 1999 with Paul McLoone on vocals. Since then, The Undertones have carried their songs to new generations, still proving that a few chords can be more than enough. In 2024 they finally released their first live album, capturing the joy of what they do best.
