Meet our new Artists In Residence: Rare Akuma and KRANKk

Rare Akuma
"You don't know Rare Akuma yet, but XXXTentacion did". That's how Knack Focus summarized this young Antwerp hip hop talent last year. The millions of streams of his tracks don't lie: internationally, Rare Akuma is extremely wanted. In Belgium he produced both 'U Ma Is U Pa' and 'Guttergang' for Zwangere Guy. On Akuma Season, his first album, he alternates his typical "ragecore" with more personal songs, which really put himself on the rader.

The residence of Rare Akuma started last month with a bombshell of a club night: Rare Akuma presents Hellraiser phase 2. Shortly, Akuma organises a ten-day bootcamp in the studio of Trix to record his new album. He will further transform his live show into a high-quality production. We're ready for Hellraiser phase 3!

KRANKk
You’d be forgiven for thinking KRANKk is from the UK. With their blend of grimey basslines, Burial-inspired atmospherics, and future garage beats they sound like they’ve been brewed up in a London lock-off. Really, though, they’re from Antwerp - and they’ve added a mad twist to their two-step rhythms. And there's more! Live, KRANKk is a cannonball: contagiously exciting, danceable and super virtuoso.

In collaboration with CAN (Creative Accessibility Network), KRANKk uses our facilities for a 'multi-sensory liveshow'. A what? A show working on all senses. From sense of smell to taste. They do this specifically for the deaf and blind, but also work on collaborations with various Belgian and British artists.
